Stephen Bird

Born in Stoke-on-Trent, where Royal Doulton and Wedgewood were founded, Stephen Bird spent his childhood playing amongst the broken moulds from ceramic factories. He has called his practice – in which he plays around with the forms of traditional British ceramics in a model of contemporary hybridity – ‘industrial sabotage’.
