Elaine Campaner, born in 1969, says, ‘The “stuff” of my work is placed in relationship in real time and space and takes advantage of the estrangement, inherent associations, context, scale and accident that occurs in my process to create new visual sensation … I make work about the “world makers”, yet I manage my fear and anxiety about the real world by manipulating characters in a constructed world. “World-makers” are playing with my world and the lives of real people in the world and I am acting out grandiose fantasies on small dolls. It is about personal and collective fear and about making it more concrete rather than vague and unconscious.’
