Recycled fabric, wire, plastic eyes and thread

Cecilia Fogelberg was born in Sweden in 1976 and migrated to Australia in 1999. She describes how in those early days here, a lack of money for materials prompted her to create objects out of the things around her and she took up sewing objects as a result. She has said of the poignant sculpture The Hunter
‘I keep this particulate sculpture very close to heart’ she says – is made out of her ‘dead grandma's’ bed sheet. Fogelberg, doesn’t offer comfort with her soft sculptures: on the contrary, like The Hunter, her creatures draw us near with their gentle familiarity, then confound or confront us with their stark particularity.
